Holtman Systems Research is a small European company, founded in 2022 by Koen Holtman. Its main mission is to benefit society by doing research and applied innovation on

• Improving the safety of AI systems, and
• Improving the interactions between AI systems and society.

Systems research is typically a multi-disciplinary process, and can have a range of possible outputs. The main current activity of Holtman Systems Research is to participate in the creation of formal technical standards for AI systems. We target both world-wide AI standards and European AI standards in the context of the EU AI Act, mainly by participating in the CEN-CENELEC JTC 21 committee.

We offer independent technology and policy consulting services, with a focus on the following topics:

• Current AI technology and its impact on society
• Speculative future AI technology and its impact on society
• Cyber-physical and socio-technical systems safety
• AI regulation
• Multi-stakeholder requirements elicitation for socio-technical systems

The services we offer range from private consulting, on projects compatible with our mission, to making independent contributions to the public, academic, and policy debates about AI.
